Fire at building in Dhaka’s Konapara brought under control



A fire that broke out at a 10-storey building in Dhaka’s Konapara area yesterday afternoon has been brought under control in the early hours today.

The blaze was brought under control around 2:00am, said Mahfuz Revon, a duty officer of Fire Service and Civil Defence headquarters.

A total 14 firefighting units are still trying to douse the fire, he added.

Earlier yesterday, the fire broke out around 4:25pm on the sixth floor of the building, Dana Miah, a duty officer of Fire Service and Civil Defence headquarters, told The Daily Star.

The fire later spread to the fifth and seventh floors, he said.

On information, 13 units of firefighters rushed to the spot and started working to extinguish the fire. Another unit later joined them.

Casualty, reason of the fire and damage could not be known immediately, Dana Miah added.
