CUET student suspended for ‘derogatory remarks’ on prophet in Facebook



The authorities of Chittagong University of Engineering and Technology (Cuet) have suspended a student for allegedly making derogatory remarks on Prophet Mohammad (PBUH) in Facebook.

The student was former vice-president of Cuet unit Chhatra Union, Cuet Registrar Prof Faruk-Uz-Zaman Chowdhury confirmed to The Daily Star.

The decision was taken yesterday at 122th academic council meeting held virtually after the disciplinary committee for students recommended the suspension for his remarks a few days back.

The university authority also issued a show-cause notice to the student asking him to reply within 15 days why he should not suspended permanently, added the registrar.
