Police today appealed to a Dhaka court to show Dhaka-7 lawmaker Haji Salim’s son Mohammad Erfan Salim and his bodyguard Zahidul Mollah arrested in a case filed for assaulting a navy official in the capital’s Dhanmondi area.
Investigation Officer Ashfaq Rajib Hasan, also inspector (investigation) of Dhanmondi Police Station, submitted a seven-day remand prayer to the court for quizzing the duo in the case.
Dhaka’s Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Muhammad Asaduzzaman Nur fixed tomorrow for hearing on the petition in presence of Erfan and Zahidul.
The duo were sentenced to one year in prison yesterday for illegally possessing walkie-talkies and foreign liquor after their arrest.
Meanwhile, Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Satyabrata Shikder placed AB Siddique Dipu, protocol officer of Haji Salim’s business organisation Madina Group, on three-day remand after he was produced before the court with a seven-day remand prayer in the case.
