2 policemen injured in attack in Noakhali
Two police personnel were injured in an attack carried out allegedly by local crime gang Fuad gang at Abhirampur village under Begumganj upzila of Noakhali this evening.
The injured policemen — Assistant Sub-Inspector Sadikul Islam and constable Rasel, both attached with the Begumganj police station — received treatment at the upazila health complex, reports our local correspondent quoting Kamruzzaman Shikdar, officer-in-charge of the police facility.
Meanwhile, police have arrested two members of the gang, including its chief Md Fuad Hossain, in this connection.
On October 14, members of Fuad gang beat up one Mujibur Rahman’s school-going daughter over a previous feud and broke her hand. Later, Mujibur lodged a complaint against the gang with Begumganj police station.
“When a police team headed by ASI Sadikul went there today to investigate the complaint, the gang members locked into an altercation with police,” said the OC, adding that the gang members, at one stage, launched an attack on police leaving ASI Sadikul and constable Rasel injured.
Being informed, police rushed to the spot and arrested the two, the OC said.
